Chromatic Aberration | Samyang XP 85mm f/1.2

Here's a shot using the new Samyang 85mm f/1.2 XP lens mounted to the Blackmagic URSA MINI 4K EF.

See how the edges around the top SSD appear green and the bottom SSD edges appear magenta? This is caused by Chromatic Aberration also known as Purple Fringing.

But why does this occur? Simply put: Chromatic Aberration occurs because a lens is not focusing each different wavelength of light to the same convergence point.

In other news, why this $900 lens is showing such strong fringing is a bit of a mystery and makes me think twice about not choosing the excellently rated Sigma 85mm f/1.4 Art Lens. The photo was taken at it's minimum focusing distance, but still.
