Edelkrone Wing 15. 3/8" not 1/4"!!!
That exasperating moment when you bring a brand new product home, or in this case to your hotel room and the fitting is the wrong size.
Let's be more clear shall we
I ran out to BH to pickup the newly released Edelkrone Wing 15. Simply put, a slider mechanism for your camera. Except without the long polls so it can fit nicely in your bag. A folding slider if you will.
Anyway
Turns out my cheap as hell ProVista 6510 tripod and video head that I got half priced during a BH sale (go figure) uses not only a very odd 65mm bowl (neither the standard 75mm or 100mm) but also the smaller consumer grade 1/4"-20 connection instead of the more beefy and professional 3/8"-16 one. Aggravating to say the least.
Considering the advertisement shows the Edelkrone Wing 15 being used specifically with the Blackmagic URSA MINI (which I have) that uses 1/4" holes, I rightfully assumed that the gizmo would use the same. As we have seen, not so true. I strongly believe this should be more prominently noted on the website.
At least BH is open tomorrow, but now I have to decide wether to simply return the Wing 15 or upgrade my tripod and fluid head to more professional variants.
My wallet is leaning more to the first sentence.
