New Apple APFS file system is amazing

The speed difference between duplicating a 12GB file on an SSD formatted as APFS and ExFAT. Night and day. Such a great increase in speed is achieved by 'cloning' a file instead of making an entire duplicate. The process is described in by Wikipedia as:

'Clones allow the operating system to make efficient file copies on the same volume without occupying additional storage space. Changes to a cloned file are saved as deltas, reducing storage space required for document revisions and copies.'

55 Seconds to copy a 12GB file on a ExFAT formatted Samsung EVO 850 SSD. Instant on the same drive formatted as APFS. The future is fast.

Instant with APFS

Not so instant ExFAT. 55 Seconds.
