DisplayPort 1.3

DisplayPort 1.3 will provide the necessary bandwidth to support resolutions above 4K. With Ultra High-Definition just recently gaining traction this would seem superfluous if weren't for Apple unveiling it's newest 5K iMac. At launch many asked if it could be used as a stand alone monitor. That answer was no and for good reason. There is no current connection that can handle such a massive amount of visual data. 5120x2880@60Hz to be exact. That's nearly 15 megapixels for those counting. with 32.4Gbps bandwidth before over head (25.92Gbps after) we finally have a large enough pipe to fit that 5K signal through.
