E7 is the new E5
The Intel Xeon E5 v2 family (think new Mac Pro) supports up to 768GB of memory. Not bad, but this number is looking a bit stale next to the new E7 v2 line that will gobble up 1.536TB of RAM goodies.
Go ahead and take a gander for yourself.
For us 4K enthusiasts 1.536TB of memory sounds less like the future and more like a godsend. Now if only OS X supported a bit more than 128GB...
On the laptop side there is still no word of 16GB DIMMs to max out the Retina MacBook Pro's 32GB memory capable Intel® Core™ i7-4980HQ.
